Gold Panning in Tennessee
Gold panning is a fun hobby enjoyed by thousands of people in the USA. Thousands more, around the world too. Here is Tennessee, we are lucky enough to have a pretty good sized area that we can pan for gold. The Cherokee National Forest is open to prospecting, except in wilderness areas or wilderness study areas. Get a map, and don't go into those areas.
When you go gold panning, you may enjoy the time you spend alone along the water. However, many have found that they have more fun, and learn more, when they go gold panning with other prospectors.
You can learn new things from being in a group of people panning for gold. Many things are done differently and you may learn something that can help you find more gold, or how to pan faster.
After our chapters monthly meetings, we often go out in groups of up to 40+ people to help the new prospectors learn how to find gold, and how to pan for gold properly. There is a learning curve, and the faster you can learn, the more gold you will find.
You should be able to make several friends if you come out after our meetings with us. And as you learn more, and come to more meetings, you will get more friends, and have more fun while your panning for gold. What could be better...
I hope to see you out on the creeks some day soon!
